Spinning Fever

I have been spinning fiber like crazy this week.

I bought this batt called "Funky Town" from Spinning Wheel Studio

~
She has absolutely wonderful stuff and it's a delight to spin.

~

This is what it looks like on the wheel.

~

After the wheel....

~

The texture was wonderful.

~

This is what it looks like soaked, wound, and ready to dry.
~
Notice all the gold and funky fibers.
~
This is what roving looks like when it's not in a batt. Usually it will come braided.

~

On the wheel after separating the fibers.
Which just means pulling them apart into strips before the spinning begins.
~

Different View
This is still waiting on the wheel waiting for more spinning action.

~

I spun this last night. It's alpaca in blues and purples.

Turned out to be about 1.1 oz which is about 40 to 60 yards.
~
I must say, I am in love with this yarn.
I hope my secret sister swapper will love it too. It's a surprise!
~
Off to spin some more!!!!

Summer Time

Things we have done this summer....

Red Top Mountain State Park Beach

~

While Kailen was away at Boy Scout Camp, we took the kids to try out one of Georgia's man made beaches.

I have to say, this is soooo not like Florida!

~

Where's the blue water and all the shells??

The kids did have fun finding all the fishes swimming around their legs.

~

Daryn even brought her boyfriend along.

WAIT! WHAT! BOYFRIEND! OMG.

~

Sugey loving his floaty.

~

Then we had fun at the water slide.
(Thanks to my sister for letting us use her pool!)

~

Another wonderful thing about summer....

Catching Lightning Bugs

~

I love watching them glow.

~

They are awesome creatures.

We must have caught at least 60 in one night.

~

It's fun to catch lots of things...

Frog!

~

Ryan is fearless. Huge meaty gross moth.

~

Look at what was in our creek!

~
These salamanders have gills. They are really cool!
