Things I learned in the Mountains

There are certain things I have learned from life in the mountains.

#1 There IS wildlife everywhere.

~

Bear Claw

~

#2 There are strange things that I would rather not touch me.

Including goliath bugs and gigantic arachnids.

~

#3 I HATE mountain roads. They make you sick.

Keep head between your knees and pray that it ends soon.

~

#4 The shops of Blue Ridge are cute and many.

~

Best ice cream is from Sweet Treats.

~

They mix together flavors you pick.

~

They also have a really neat tree.

~

#5 Old Railroads are cool.

~

#6 Places to stop and cuddle are a must.

~

#7 Dahlonega is the place to go for gold.

~

#8 Panning for gold is hard.

I don't like it.

~
AND, you end up doing it for your kids cause they get tired of it.

Or pretend you are stupid and let the guide "help" you. (Must tip on that occasion)

~
End product. Each piece worth about a dollar.

~

Great place to go.

~

#9 Mining for gems...

~

A LOT FUNNER!

~

Bags of gems

~

The thrill of finding a gem!

~

"Believing" you struck gold.

~

"Is this a gem Mommy?"

~

"Why yes, yes, it is!"

~
Old mining equipment but still a working mine.

~
Loved seeing the old ways

~

Moonshine Baby

~

#10 Never let go of your gold!

~

#11 Flowers make you happy no matter what.

Heart shape

~
#12 NEVER forget how much fun it is to play games with your kids.

~

#13 Old looking pictures give off a different feeling.

~

#14 Always try new places to eat.

They always turn out be to favorites.

~
#15 Finding a place that lets you mix a six pack to find your new favorite....

AWESOME!
~

This one is good too.
~

#16 Learning you are good at lace but accepting you can't do 4bead yarn overs on it.
So delicate and beautiful.
~
#17 There are yarn stores out there in the middle of nowhere.
Next Entomology?
~
#18 Last but not least

Thank god I have kids. They bring such wonderful experiences to my life.

Cabin Life

One of the best parts of a vacation is relaxing and spending time with family.
~

It helps to have a beautiful cabin.

~
Way deep in the woods.

~

Packed with plenty of entertainment.

~

Is this legal for Sugey? (:

~
Good movies and comfy blankets.

~

Loved this couch!

~

Bear blankets everywhere.
Who's under there trying to scare Mommy?

~

A real Sugar Bear!

~

This actually frightened me because I only saw her coming out the corner of my eye.

~

Kids loved the hot tub.

Never put anyone under 7 years old in temps over 98 degrees. We learned this in Tennessee when Ryan got heat stroke.

~

What else was in our cabin?

Scorpions! Thank god they were dead. Yuckola.

~

More stuff to do...

Play outside in the woods.

~

There was a lot of open space and trails.

~
Brother time.
BUT
~
Be careful of the bears!
The real ones that is. People are very serious about bears up in the mountains. You can't even leave bird feeders out. They do climb as well.
~
The rocking chairs were one of my favorite things.
~
Ahhh!!! The knitting memories.
~
Things I didn't like.
Deer heads staring at me in the night. Or deer heads period.
~
Beautiful tub.
BUT....am I the only one the gets freaked out about using other people's tubs?
~
Forgetting how to play Donkey Kong.
But having others place high scores! UGH.
~
Back to the love
I love watching the kids having fun.
~
Did Kailen really beat me!?
~
Fun place to hang out and drink coffee and play Boggle.
~
Cabin life is different at night.
Remind anyone of a famous haunted house?
~

After dinner one night, I decided to tell the kids ghost stories on the way back to cabin.
As it got darker....
~
The greatest effect was.....
~
Absolutely no lights.
Mark and I thought it was quite funny until a truck started to follow us down the road at a high speed.
We were already making plans to turn the wrong way in case he was a psychotic Mountain Man.
~
At the last moment....
He turned off road. We had fun laughing but as soon as we got to the cabin, everyone ran as fast as they could to be inside!

~
It was creepy!
~
Ah! Nighttime.
