Caution: Splash Zone

Took the kids to the water park for the last days of summer.

This is my favorite local water park which is less than 2 minutes from my house.

This is one of the few advantages of living in Florida.

Plus you get to see all the cool iguanas that roam the park. How many can you spot?

Can you spot the little head peaking out from the water cannon? That would be Kailen.

Little Sugar Bears likes to.............. stop up all the water jets.

Ryan is better know as the mermaid in the family.

Daryn, the daughter that doesn't like to be photographed.

Of course I brought my knitting! This is the Rainbow Clappy I have been working on. I LOVE the stripping this is doing.

Sugar Bears

What more can I say of the cuteness??

Ryan rescued a lady bug who dried her wings off for a very long time!

Kailen the Champion Water Slider of the day.

To My Dad

TO MY DAD

My father is one of the greatest men alive. Yesterday, he retired from years and years of work. Each day was a trial on its own. I can never tell you how much I appreciate each day of his life. He has taught me many things. He has taught me right from wrong; he has taught me to take the good and the bad things that come my way. He has taught me what it really means to be a man. He has taught me there is a time for everything. A time to be strong, a time to watch and learn, a time to be soft and accepting. Each memory I have of my father is something I will keep with me forever. My dad has given me so many things. I wish there was one thing in the world that I could give him that would express just how much I appreciate and love him, but all I have are words. No gift can ever match the love I feel for my dad. I love you Dad, and thank you for all the years and all the lessons you have taught me.

Like a Bag of Chips

I totally lucked out at the library this week and got all the Stephanie Plum series for $3.00, minus the recently published ones. I am on book #2 and as I told my dearest to the dear, librarian, sometimes you just need books that you can devour such as eating a bag of potato chips.

Now you may ask what goes best with a bag of potato chips....

My FAVORITE beer in the world.

Here is what I finished during Tropical Storm Fay.

Tis the Spring Beret.

Now for the randomness in the life of Jana.

Question #1

Homeschooling experiment day. How heavy can a kite possibly be in order to still fly it?

Answer: Does not fly in Tropical Storm winds.

QUESTION #2

How long does it take to catch a baby duck while the mother isn't looking?

Answer: Long enough for Sugey to capture it, kiss it, and let it go.

Question #3

Is there not enough to get done in the day other than wasting time taking psychedelic pictures of rainbow yarn?

Answer: No, there is nothing better to do and rainbow yarn is my favorite colorway.

Stormy Weather, Ghosts, and Log Cabins

Tropical Storm Fay has invaded my space.
The Betties have been rained out tonight. Last night, I made the best of the oncoming storm and started a slouchy Spring Beret. So cute.
Notice the pretty stitch marker, made by the fabulous Torii of Velvet Hippo on Etsy. She makes the prettiest stuff EVER. http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5783322

On top of that, I finally finished my stipey sock . Now one more left.

I have been working on my Log Cabin blanket. Of course now everytime I try and take a picture, Sugey Bear MUST be included. This will be a birthday present for someone EXTRA SPECIAL. Here's another view.

This weekend, I went out with the Betties to the "most haunted pub in South Florida".The Blue Anchor in Delray Beach. Awesome food and good company.

We also visited ImaginKnit in Lake Worth.

I bought some wonderful silk and mohair lace weight yarn.
This yarn is 100% silk from ArtYarns.

Olympic Love

The Olympics this year have been absolutely amazing.

One of my favorite Olympians is Michael Phelps.

He is the Olympic Swimming Gold Medalist Winner.

Team USA Men's Gynastics ROCKS.

Raj Bhavsar has an amazing backround story. He is really admirable.

Jonathan Horton is amazing on the rings.

Nicole Branagh has tremendous force in her hands.

Even Ravelry has a piece of the action.

Here is an Olympic Ring Chart in case you want to knit up some washcloths.

Cupcake Love

Today is one of my favorite dates. The numbers just coincide. 8-8-08 I believe that the number eight is the even of all even numbers. Now that would just take way too long to explain. But here's what I did today.
Sugey Bear with all his hair up. We had the big boy haircut talk this morning. No dice, he took it down immediately.
Time for cupcakes.
Ryan decided she wanted to learn to make a knitted cupcake.
I decided to make one along with her. I am so proud of her knitting skills.
How awesome is it for an eleven year old to be knitting on DPN's.

I love how the cupcake turned out. I plan to make more. Such a sweet little gift.

Tonight, the Beijing 2008 Opening Ceremonies began.

It was the best ceremony ever. To make it even better, some of the Betties had a virtual Olympic Discussion. Quite funny.

During the Parade of the Nations, I enjoyed a nice game of hidden pictures. I have been obsessed with them lately. This is a good one.

Here are the promised picture of my secret gift. It's a Book Wrap! It was a pleasure to knit and it turned out super soft.

One of my favorite projects ever.

Mama Pride

Monday night I decided to take Ryan to my kntting meeting.

She had a lot of fun and everyone was sooooo welcoming. I adore my Betties.

She has been knitting ever since. She made a kitten collar.

She even learned to knit on 4 needles!!! I am SO PROUD of my baby.

This is what she made: A Webkinz Sweater

This is just amazing to me.

I am so happy to share my love and pass it down. It's the best feeling in the world.
