Why I Learned How to Knit

This is my second swap!!! The first question is, "Why did I learn how to knit?"
~
I taught myself how to knit about 8 years ago. I developed severe panic attacks that led into a full blown panic disorder. The panic disorder is when the attacks last for several hours. I often think the best things in life come from the worst experiences. It wasn't the easiest thing to teach myself but I noticed as soon as I picked up the needles, my mind kind of went into a meditative mode. It's very relaxing and calming. I find it funny that people will say they don't have the patience for it. Knitting teaches you patience. It teaches you to deal with mistakes. I learned through one of my fellow knitters, that the Amish people always leave one mistake in their work on purpose. This is to teach them humility and that everything in life is not perfect. The best gift of knitting is giving. Nothing in the world is better than a gift someone has made. You know their time went into it in every single stitch. Often when I make things, I tend to think about the person as I am knitting. It brings back a lot of good memories that maybe I have forgotten. So it is a gift for both the giver and the receiver. Knitting to me, is part of my soul.

Here are some of the things I have made.

Happy Yule

Happy Yule!

The winter solstice occurs at the instant when the Sun's position in the sky is at its greatest angular distance on the other side of the equatorial plane from the observers' hemisphere. Depending on the shift of the calendar, the event of the winter solstice occurs some time between December 20 and December 23 each year in the northern hemisphere, and between June 20 and June 23 in the southern hemisphere, during either the shortest day or the longest night of the year, which is not to be confused with the darkest day or night or the day with the earliest sunset or latest sunrise.

Just a bit of educational stuff thrown in.

~

This is the night before Yule. Just making sure Sugey's present fits.
