Peace Within

After camping, it was hard to get back into our routine.

Align Center~

On the homeschooling front, we started Oceanography.

~

There is just so much to learn. We even combined English in the lessons. (I will get to that in a second)

~

~

We also did Similes.

Here's one Ryan did: " The whale is as big as a house"

That's a pretty simple one.

~

This will be a long unit with so much to learn.

~

Here's a couple of sites we have been using.

~

Very cool stuff.

So, enough about the kids, lol. This is what I have been doing this week.

I have been learning about the Buddhist Religion

I'm listening to The Art of Happiness on my IPod (Rather Daryn's IPod)

~

I have always thought that maybe I am a bit of each religion out there and that one is not more important than the other. As long as we have peace and love, the good will prevail.

This is an Om

The universal sound of the universe.

~

Om is the universal name of the Lord. It is made up of the letters A (phonetically as in "around"), U (phonetically as in "put") and M (phonetically as in "mum"). The sound emerging from the vocal chords starts from the base of the throat as "A". With the coming together of the lips, "U" is formed and when the lips are closed, all sounds end in "M".
The three letters symbolize the three states (waking, dream and deep sleep), the three deities (Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva), the three Vedas (Rig, Yajur and Sama) the three worlds (Bhuh, Bhuvah, Suvah) etc. The Lord is all these and beyond.
The formless, attributeless Lord (Brahman) is represented by the silence between two Om Chants. Om is also called pranava that means, "that (symbol or sound) by which the Lord is praised". The entire essence of the Vedas is enshrined in the word Om. It is said that the Lord started creating the world after chanting Om and atha. Hence its sound is considered to create an auspicious beginning for any task that we undertake. The Om chant should have the resounding sound of a bell (aaooommm).

Two great sites.

Love Thy Yarn

As part of my swap, I was asked if I could only knit with one brand of yarn for the rest of the year, what would it be?

Malabrigo of course.

~

Just look at all the pretty colors.

~

Now choosing a color....that would be the hard part....

Planes, Trains, and RVs

This weekend was another boyscout camping trip. We went to Lake Worth and camped at John Prince Park. It was quite different than the Hammocks. I have to say that the Hammocks was my favorite spot so far. I am really looking forward to camping at Billie Swamp next month. I am enjoying Boy Scouts more and more.
~

This trip was different than the others because Kailen, being part of the Webelos, had to camp "alone". He set up his own tent with another Webelos help and also cooked his own food.

These were some of the tents they set up and slept in.

~

They weren't very far as you can see from this picture. They were on a really neat hill.

This is a view from my tent.

~

Sugey Bear got to drive us there.

Kidding (:

~

He did enjoy his Big Wheel though. Especially when he raced down the big hill.

~

Speaking of Planes, Trains, and RVs.....we were right next to an airport and a helicopter field. Not to mention a train track and most of the park was filled with RVs.

~

A lot of neat things flew overhead.

~

Here is one of the RVs that had their front all decorated.

Here is one that had a whole set-up even for their dog including a doggie bridge.

~

There was a bit of wildlife, but not much.

~

Also, the moon was at it's fullest of the year.
