Little Mulberry Park

Little Mulberry Park
This was a very beautiful park that we chose to go on our first real hike.
~
The park has these interesting Stone Mounds said to be from the Indians.
They could be found in odd areas along certain hiking paths. I found a lot of these paths to be quite reminiscent of "Blair Witch"
~
Here are some we found. There were a lot more depending on which trail and how deep you walked.
~
These piles of stone range from neatly stacked cubic assemblies to scattered piles of rock (that appear to formerly have been neatly stacked). Some are stacked five to six feet tall. There are hundreds of these mounds scattered in various clusters - all are protected within our park. The precise age of these assemblages has not been determined, but they are almost certainly associated with native American cultures. Archaeological investigations have failed to uncover artifacts as necessary to definitively attribute the mounds to a specific time frame or culture. No artifacts or human remains have been found in association with the mounds. Hence, there is much speculation as to the stones ritual or other practical utility. Nevertheless, today we may reflect upon the considerable time and effort.
(Sign found at park)

We told Kailen the ancient spirits would haunt him for climbing on the rocks.
Very bad!
~
Of course his father led a great example in following park rules.
~
There were so many neat things to be found at the park.
Little creeks along the way.
~
Ryan pointed out these and said they reminded her of The Land Before Time.
~

Weird bugs.

~
An inchworm.

~
The trails were amazing.
Although, there were some paths were weren't sure about.

~

It was fun to freak the kids out about the spirits in the park.

It's easy to be brave when you aren't alone!

~

Neat mini rock cave.

~

Few of the paths were paved.

Hi Ryan!

~

Most weren't.

~

Never forget to bring plenty of water on a hike.

Thankfully we were well stocked. This was the point I thought I was going to pass out. Our two mile hike, turned into a four mile uphill battle.

~

I would definitely go back. This has to be one of my favorite parks now.

~
There were so many different noises to be heard along the paths. I wonder what was living in the water.

~
Bright colors everywhere.
~
Sometimes the kids got a little ahead of me.
~
I thought these were the neatest paths.
There were so many steps at one point.
~
"Which way Mama?"
~
Small waterfall you can barely see.
~
Neat chairs. This one overlooked the waterfall. Such a peaceful area.
An interesting part of this park was, that if you lived in the connecting home development, there was a path that connected straight to the hiking paths. There were a lot of joggers about.
~
~
Another waterfall.

~

After our hike, we got to enjoy the playground very near the starting paths.

~

They had some interesting things to play on that most parks don't offer.
I would definitely recommend going to this park just for the playground.

~

Sugey had a lot of fun.

~

And so did the older kids.

~

It's good to be a kid.

~

And it's good to be a proud mama watching it all.

~

I love my kids.

They mean the world to me.

Hi Jana! I've been to this park before! My friend lives really close to it and when we visited them she took us to that playground. Looks like you guys had good family time! By the way, your little one so reminds me of you when you were little. :) kim
