SAFF = Death Defying Peeping Toms

It's always fun to travel with friends.

The strangest things happen. Like knocking on a random hotel stayers door and thinking it's someone you know.

 ~

But let's rewind to the car trip. Which was amazing yet dangerous in so many ways.

This was about 7ish and the mist from the river was flowing in.

~

 Off to the Bat Cave.

Not really, but a damn cool road sign.

~

 YAY SAFF!

 ~

SAFF is a different kind of fiber festival. You can actually buy live animals including sheep or bunnies.

Of course I was told there would be no livestock allowed in the car ride home.

~

So I focused on the non-living aspects of the show.

 Very very cool weaving table.

~

Can you imagine felting something this big?

~

I have to say, this was one of the funnest trips I've taken. I adore my knitting friends and to see the beauty of the mountains, laugh, be introduced to a delicious Japanese dish, laugh some more, spend time knitting together in a hotel room, talking and more talking and of course defying those cliffs. It was amazing.

 ~

The scenery was most awesome although I had no reception during most of it.

 ~

We took lots of pictures.

 ~

 Blue Ridge Mountains are breathtaking.

 ~

Amazing colors.

 ~

The elevation was around 4,000 feet here.

 ~

Knitting and traveling goes well together.

Try getting your knitting in a perfect mountain picture. Not easy while driving.

On the home-front

FDH I love this hat.

~

 My own design.

 ~

Had to frog this at SAFF. Going to combine it with a thicker yarn. This yarn is soft and nice to work with.

 ~

My own design again. This fox hat is cute!

 ~

Started another slouchy hat.

Sugey received a certificate for the Apple Orchard we visited.

Mark took the boys on a tour of the local firehouse.

 ~

Which even had a firehouse dog. Yes, this is country.

Awesome fantasy book I had no idea how much I would LOVE it!

And this helpful chart is most excellent.

On the Flix

Very interesting. Shows a whole different lifestyle. I'm very into teaching tolerance.

 How cute.

I've always wanted a chicken or duck. Now it's possible with this cool diaper!

Cozy Fall

Now that Fall is here, we have been in the baking, comfy couch movie mood.

Kailen helped me cook all weekend. We started with Greek Gyros. Which were AMAZING.

~

For dessert, we made a cappuccino cheesecake and one with milk chocolate in the middle.

 ~

The next night we made Pasta Fagioli

~

Homemade Whoppie Pies stuffed with marshmallows.

 Chicken and Dumplings on Sunday

I worked on finishing the design of the Owl Sock Club Kit

 ~

Daryn went to her homecoming dance looking absolutely beautiful.

Movie time!

This movie is terrific! The actors are wonderful and it has a lot of humor in it! I HIGHLY recommend it!

~

Although the kids liked this movie, it really bothered me. The only highlight for me was John Lithgow.

~

I did enjoy this new TV series by FX. American Horror Story. It's creepy and definitely on the MA rating side. The camera angles are great and it adds to the creepiness.

 ~

We took the kids to Spirit Halloween store. They have very cool decorations. I love the zombie dolls.

 ~

~

Fall is so beautiful. It really ignites the hominess crafty side of me.

 ~

Mollie Makes is quite the magazine! It has everything in it! I can't wait to make some of the stuff!

Just wanted to mention that I finished reading Spinning Forward by Terri Dulong

The book was wonderful. Made me cry and I started the second one right away. Although I would have liked the book to have more knitting in it, it was absolutely worth the read. I am excited to learn she has the third book coming out. Can't wait!!

Kailen has a birthday September 27th

It seemed to be a week long event. On Tuesday, his actual birthday, we took him to The Cheesecake Factory!

~

He loved his Butterfinger Cheesecake.

 ~

Saturday, Kailen had some of the Boy Scouts over for a sleepover/gaming party.

 ~

I think he had a good time. (:

 ~

On the knitting front!

I made some bows for Daryn's friends.

~

I started designing my Owl Sock Kit pattern.

It will have two different owls on each side with branches down to the gusset. Then on the base, the branches will continue into a tree with roots towards the toe.

~

I cast on for Girasole by Jared Flood.

I am using Cascade 220 Handpaint.

~

It really is a fun knit. I made Hemlock as well but I am liking this pattern a whole lot better!

On my Nook

I think this is a pretty good read although I am 1/4 way through. It's a bit predictable but still captures my attention. You can follow me on GoodReads as Jana Anello or Jknitsalot

In my Hands

I've heard lots of awesome reviews for this book. I am also 1/4 way through. It is a hard read because it goes back and forth between the story and the narrator. The parts that are creepy are extremely creepy. I think its worth it to get through all the footnotes.

~

 In my bottle!

You can really taste the raspberry in this beer. It has a good clean sweet taste. I wish I had bought the Pumpkin as well!

~

 On the Stove

As it gets closer to Fall, I love to have all sorts of goodies in the house.

 Real Kettlecorn and Peanut Brittle

Beats store-bought any day!

On the Flix

The original BattleStar Galactica Season 1. This is AWESOME stuff. Brings back a lot of memories.

 Sons of Anarchy

I am definitely in love with this show. The characters are fabulous and the acting is spot on. Katey Sagal rocks it and is hot to boot! Some of the scenes are wicked harsh and it definitely is a jaw dropper. I'm only on season one and excited to get to the rest! This show is a triple A+++
